Happily there’s a positive sting in the tail of this week’s blog after my union experience!
In my work I talk with a lot of small business people. I’m always looking for better ways of carrying out tasks – integrating, streamlining, simplifying – things to make my business life better. So I thought I’d take a moment to share a quick list of some of the Small business gadgets that myself and in fact my whole team use to make things easier and more efficient as we work. There might be newer things out there, but this is the tried-and-true stuff we use and love.
RoboForm
Got usernames and passwords coming out of your ears? RoboForm is a wonderful tool that safely stores all of your usernames, passwords and bookmarks. It operates on all of your devices and basically allows you to log directly onto your chosen website. No fiddling about, ‘secret’ lists or poorly secured passwords. It’s easy to use, and it’s not at all expensive.
Copy2Contact
This software has stacks of features, but my main use for it is in seamlessly transferring my contact’s details into my Outlook contacts. All you need to do is highlight the text you need to copy – say, an email signature – hit Ctrl cc, and it zaps straight into your Outlook contacts. So much faster than having to manually re-type the details.
ACT CRM
We’ve had this in use for just over a year now and frankly, we wouldn’t be without it. It’s a Client Relationship Manager that’s easy to use, affordable for small business owners, and integrates beautifully with Outlook.
itap RDP –
I love my Apple gadgets, but like many people in business I run Windows at the office and on an exchange server, too. So we use Itap RDP to log on remotely to our work desktops through Macs, iPads and iPhones. It’s a great tool to put to use when you need to remotely access your work desktop without hassles or hurdles.
