Small business owners are notoriously time-poor, so knowing some handy tips for using a computer is usually welcome.

We've all had that moment where we've sat and stared at the screen for what feels like an eternity, wondering where to find a certain function or file.

This has never been truer than with Microsoft Outlook. It's a staple of nearly every small business, but with its various features, it can be all too easy to forget where to find the one you're after.

We've put together a list of 10 of the handiest keyboard shortcuts you're ever likely to need while using Microsoft Outlook, so you'll never have to waste time wondering again!

1. Switch to your outbox/inbox

CTRL+SHIFT+I for inbox, CTRL+SHIFT+O for outbox.

2. Create a new message

CTRL+SHIFT+M from any Outlook page, CTRL+N while already in the Mail program.

3. Mark as read or unread

CTRL+Q for read, CTRL+U for unread

4. Forwarding

CTRL+F to forward the item, CTRL+ALT+F to forward as an attachment.

5. Convert an HTML or RTF message to plain text

CTRL+SHIFT+O

6. Open the address book

CTRL+SHIFT+B

7. Check for new messages

CTRL+M or F9

8. Add a Quick Flag to an unopened message

INSERT

9. Show the menu to download pictures, add a sender to the Safe Senders List or change automatic download settings

CTRL+SHIFT+W

10. Display the send or receive process

CTRL+B, which must be inputted as a send or receive is underway.

You might want to think about having some of these shortcuts to hand as you commit them to memory. Why not stick them on the wall until you get used to them?
